Judo at Ajax Budokan

The Ajax Budokan Judo Club is a dojo that is inclusive and welcoming to every individual. We have provided many with life altering experiences that have built confidence and character.

We give people the opportunity to build confidence and develop many skills. The Ajax Budokan Judo Club has built many members of our society that have become police officers, chiropractors, teachers, firefighters and more.

Emotional skills development

Children who begin our classes start to develop social and emotional skills, allowing them to express their thoughts and feelings.

The sport of judo provides individuals a chance to build friendships and show empathy to one another.

The word ‘Judo’ translates to ‘the gentle way’ which we as instructors teach our students to respect one another.

Physical development

During every class, we provide our students with exercises that strengthen their fine and gross motor skills. Exercises such as gripping the judo gi (the outfit worn during judo practice and competition) and rope work requires our athletes to strengthen and develop large muscle groups and improve coordination.

Learning to communicate

Our athletes also increase their communication skills by asking questions and also learning important terminology in the sport of judo. They even learn a bit of Japanese!
